Best Rolex Super Clone Factory for Submariner: VSF or Clean?

Ask around about the best Submariner replica factory and the conversation turns into VSF versus Clean almost immediately.
That’s understandable.
The Submariner doesn’t hide much. The dial is simple, the bezel takes up a lot of visual space, the bracelet matters more than people admit, and on date models the Cyclops makes even a slightly off date window easy to spot. So this isn’t a watch where you pick a winner by looking at the movement spec alone and calling it settled.
Both factories do a lot well. They just don’t win in the same places.
Best Rolex Super Clone Factory for Submariner: The Short Answer
If I had to give one quick answer for a black Submariner Date, especially the 126610LN, I’d start with VSF.
It’s close, though.
VSF’s case gets stronger when you look at the whole watch together: crystal clarity, proportions, date display, and the VS3235 movement. On the 126610LN, that mix is hard to ignore.
Clean isn’t some distant runner-up. Far from it. Its cases, bezels, and bracelets can be excellent, and on some references I’d rather compare two actual examples side by side than choose based on the factory name in a dealer listing.
That’s where things stand now.
The old question was which factory makes a good Submariner. Both do. The better question is which one gets the details right on the specific reference you’re buying.
Best Rolex Super Clone Factory for Submariner 126610LN
The black 126610LN is the easiest place to start because color doesn’t muddy the comparison.
No green bezel debate.
No sunburst dial either. Just black, steel, and a date window. That makes the small stuff stand out more, not less.
On this model, VSF Factory usually gets attention first because the package feels sorted. The crystal is a big part of that. A crystal can be technically clear and still make the dial look flat or slightly fogged over, which hurts the whole watch every time you glance at it. When the crystal, Cyclops, and date work together properly, you stop thinking about them.
That’s the goal.
The date should sit naturally in the window, not look tucked too high or too low beneath the magnifier. The black dial should stay deep. The Cyclops shouldn’t overwhelm the watch.
Clean can still produce a very convincing 126610LN, especially around bezel finishing and the exterior as a whole. I just wouldn’t call it the first one I’d check on this reference. VSF gets that spot for me, and that’s different from saying Clean is second-rate. It isn’t.
VSF vs Clean Factory for Submariner 124060
The 124060 changes the whole comparison.
No date. No Cyclops.
That matters because one of VSF’s biggest advantages disappears the moment you take away the date setup. Now your eye goes elsewhere: bezel triangle, marker placement, hand shape, rehaut, crown guards, lug profile, bracelet fit, the way the brushed and polished surfaces meet.
The no-date Sub also has a cleaner dial layout, and a lot of people end up preferring it once they’ve lived with the design for a while. It looks simple at first. Then you start noticing how much the watch depends on execution.
On the 124060, Clean becomes much more persuasive. A strong Clean example makes plenty of sense because external finishing carries so much of the watch here. Bezel action, clasp feel, and the fit of the bracelet all matter more once the date complication is gone.
VSF is still fully in the conversation. I just wouldn’t reject a better-looking Clean piece because somebody repeated the line that VSF is always the answer for every Submariner. On this reference, I’d judge the watch in front of me.
VSF vs Clean Submariner Crystal and Date
This point mostly applies to Date models like the 126610LN.
People love to fixate on tiny printing differences on the dial while ignoring the sapphire sitting over the entire thing. That’s backward. The crystal changes how every element under it looks, and the Cyclops either helps the watch or drags it down.
Look straight on first. Then tilt it a bit.
Watch how much glare sits on the crystal and how clearly the dial shows through it. Then check the date. It should be centered, the font should look normal, and the magnification shouldn’t make the date look cartoonishly large.
VSF has built a lot of its reputation in exactly this area, and that’s one reason its Date Submariners stay near the top of the discussion even when Clean is equally strong elsewhere. On a date model, I’d care more about crystal and date execution than microscopic differences in dial text.
Clean Gets Especially Interesting at the Bezel and Bracelet
The bezel isn’t just about color.
Look at the engraving, the fill in the numerals, the pearl at 12, and whether the triangle lines up cleanly with the dial. If you can handle the watch, rotate the bezel too. Some bezels photograph beautifully and still feel cheap once you touch them.
Clean has earned its name mostly through the exterior details on Rolex sport models, and the bezel is one of the places where I wouldn’t assume VSF wins by default. On a black 126610LN the differences may be minor, but they’re still there.
The bracelet deserves just as much attention. People obsess over the dial, then wear the watch all day on the bracelet. End-link fit matters. The clasp matters. Link articulation matters. Even small edge finishing issues change how refined the watch feels after a few hours on the wrist.
Check the Glidelock too.
You will use the clasp more than you’ll inspect dial print through a loupe. If I had a VSF with mediocre end-link fit sitting next to a Clean with a tighter bracelet, cleaner clasp, and better exterior QC, I wouldn’t pick the VSF just because the movement looked better on paper.
The actual watch still decides it.
Best Submariner Super Clone Factory for Movement
This is usually VSF’s strongest argument.
On modern 41mm Submariner Date models, the VS3235 is a big reason buyers keep circling back to VSF. But movement talk gets exaggerated fast, and that’s where people lose the plot.
A clone movement being more sophisticated doesn’t automatically make the whole watch better. It also doesn’t save you from weak QC, poor regulation, or some other issue that shows up once the watch is in hand. The movement should influence the choice. It shouldn’t be the entire choice.
For daily wear, the basics matter: how the crown winds, how the hands set, whether the date changes correctly, and whether the movement behaves consistently over time.
Those details are boring.
They’re also what starts to matter a lot more a few months after the box-opening excitement fades. If I were comparing two equally clean 126610LN examples, the movement would push me toward VSF.
The Older 116610LN Needs Its Own Checklist
The 116610LN shouldn’t be judged exactly like the newer 126610LN.
Different generation.
The proportions are different, the movement generation is different, and the case has a different visual weight on the wrist. Some people still prefer the chunkier look of the older case. Others think the 41mm generation cleaned things up around the lugs.
The other complication is version history. Discussion around the 116610LN has been going on for years, so you’re likely to run into comparisons across several VSF and Clean batches rather than one current version against another. That makes the specific batch more important than the broad factory label.
So if you’re shopping this reference, get exact information. “VSF Submariner” tells you very little. “Clean Submariner” doesn’t tell you enough either. Reference, generation, and batch all matter here.
Factory Reputation Doesn’t Replace QC
This should be obvious. It isn’t.
People will spend days arguing over which factory is supposedly a hair better, finally choose one, get QC photos, and then approve a watch with a crooked bezel because the factory name made them feel safe.
Don’t do that.
A good VSF can be better than a bad VSF. Same with Clean. You still need to inspect the actual piece, especially on a Submariner where alignment issues show up quickly.
I’d look closely at:
- bezel alignment
- dial alignment
- hour-marker placement
- date centering on Date models
- Cyclops position
- rehaut alignment
- SEL and bracelet fit
- clasp condition
- visible case or crystal defects
There’s no need to invent flaws by zooming into a photo until one marker fills your whole screen. Past a certain point, that tells you nothing useful about how the watch will look in real life.
Still, obvious alignment or finishing problems are worth catching, and two watches from the same factory won’t always leave looking identical.
Best Rolex Super Clone Factory for Submariner: VSF or Clean?
For the 126610LN, I lean VSF.
Pretty clearly.
The movement, crystal, date presentation, and overall balance make it the easier starting point on that reference.
For the 124060, the margin gets much smaller. Without the date and Cyclops, Clean’s strengths on the exterior carry more weight, and I’d be comfortable taking whichever example had the better QC.
For colored Submariners, including the 126610LV, I’d spend more time comparing the actual bezel because color adds a variable that a simple factory ranking doesn’t solve. One heavily lit dealer photo won’t settle that argument.
If someone forced me to give one name without any explanation, I’d still say VSF for the Submariner overall, especially for the black 126610LN.
I just wouldn’t turn that into a blanket rule.
Clean is close enough that the 124060 and some other references deserve a real side-by-side look, and once you’re dealing with two well-made watches, the winner may come down to a cleaner rehaut, a tighter bracelet, a better bezel, or simply stronger QC on that individual piece.
If you’re still comparing the Submariner with other Rolex references before deciding, it also helps to look at the best Rolex super clone watches model by model rather than assuming the same factory wins across the entire Rolex catalog.
That’s less dramatic than declaring one factory the undisputed king.
It’s also much closer to reality.
